Speech and Language Therapist

Pay grade: Blackpool Grade H1/H2 (NHS Band 6 equivalent)

This post is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding team who are dedicated to driving continual improvement.


We are seeking to appoint a qualified Speech and Language Therapist who is passionate about working with children and young adults. The successful candidate will work closely with our existing Senior Speech and Language Therapist and the Trust Central Team to ensure we deliver exceptional care.


You will be working collaboratively across the Trust delivering bespoke assessment and intervention plans for our learners. You will be working alongside talented, dedicated and caring staff who act as role models for our children and who are committed to delivering the very best care.  Our settings are based in Rossendale and Blackpool and include three primary schools (ages 4-11), two special schools (ages 4-19) and a specialist college (ages 19-25), and you may be required to travel to any of our sites.


The successful candidate will:

  • Work with the Band 7 therapist to provide a specialist speech and language therapy service for learners (including young adults) and deliver staff training across the Trust.
  • Promote communication, in all its diverse ways across the Trust’s schools and community.
  • Support managers to ensure that the development of communication skills is given the utmost priority for the pupils of the Trust’s schools and community.
  • To support classroom staff to deliver appropriate programmes for pupils, young adults and their families.
  • To work proactively and in partnership with professionals across the children and young people's service, the local authority, outside agencies (including the voluntary sector) to ensure cohesive service delivery to families, schools and settings.
  • To lead specialist training sessions for all stakeholders and other professionals across the range of children’s/adult’s services.
  • To work in conjunction with school NHS Speech and Language Therapists.
